Summary

De-extinction is the process of resurrecting dead species. Scientists are working together to bring back extinct species through DNA, cloning, breeding, and genome editing. They are using lots of money to use de-extinction to bring back dead species, like the woolly mammoth as shown in the picture above. In the Reawakening Extinct Species article (source 4), scientists used the cloning method to bring create a bucardo kid. Unfortunately, the bucardo kid died few minutes after its birth. They also used the cloning method to bring back frogs, that became extinct because of chytrid fungus. In the We Might Soon Resurrect Extinct Species article (source 3) Steph Yin said, woolly mammoths can theoretically “punch down the snow in the winter time allowing cold air to come in and in the summertime, they would knock down trees which are very absorbent and release the grasses.” In conclusion, de-extinction is a process of bring back extinct species.

S&EP: Communicating Information

This week, I presented my work to the class when I posted comments and replied to people's comment after reading articles. In class, I read articles about different sides of why we should and shouldn't bring back extinct species. Once I have read the article, I went on KQED to create a comment about what I read. I created a comment on the first and fourth source. I replied to other people's comments on the second and third source. As you can see, I presented my work to class by posting comments about what I read.

XCC: Cause and Effect

Throughout the week, I have 4 sources about the topic of bring back extinct species. After reading the articles, I have noticed some cause and effects. An article said that bringing back extinct species is a good thing, because it can repopulate the area. Other the hand, bringing back extinct species could be a bad thing as to it could damage the environment, because you are bringing back something from the past and putting in a brand new environment. As you can see I have noticed some cause and effects in the articles I read, bringing back extinct species could be a bad thing or a good thing.

Multiplier: Learner

This week I was a learner, because I wanted to do the research about my topic to learn more. I wanted to gather my information to answer the question of "Should we bring back extinct species?"
