Elements - 4/9/17

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor N.  7A Image Location Summary This week, we have learned many things. This week, we had block schedule due to testing, so only had this class Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Tuesday, we finished up some notes about the organizations of the periodic table. I learned that there are 8 groups. For group 1 that has 1 electron in the outer shell, it goes to group 8 with 8 electrons. We then completed a worksheet, while completing a game. In the game, there are hints that you have find out the element. For example, if this element is stable, and has 3 electrons etc.. On Wednesday, we did a worksheet about mixtures, compound, substances, and elements. This worksheet, was kind of review from when we did the Matter Classification Chat. A compound is made of 2 or different elements. A mixture is a substance made by more than 1 type of atom. An element is a substance made entirely of 1 type of atom.A pure substance is a substance made by one type of atom. On...

Isotopes - 4/2/17

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor N. 7A Image Location Summary This week, we have learned many things. For example, we learned about isotopes, and energy level of element. On Monday, we finished learning about isotopes. Isotopes are atoms that have the same number of protons. They have different number of neutrons. All atoms of a particular element have the same atomic number. Isotopes of the same element have different mass number. On Tuesday, we learned about finding the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in each element. This is called energy level of the element. You can find the number of protons, by subtracting the atomic mass from the number of electrons. On Wednesday, we learned that there are 4 electrons in the 1st energy level, and 8 electrons in the 2nd and 3rd energy level. On Thursday, we learned about our behavior, in the assembly. As you can see I have learned many things this week, like learning about isotopes and energy level of elements. SP5: Using mathematics ...

Volume, Density, Ions - 3/26/17

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor N. 7A Image Location Summary This week, we have learned many things. For example, we did an exciting lab about volume and density, and then learned about ions. Before the lab, we talked about what volume and density is. Volume is the amount of space in a certain object. Density is the amount space in a certain volume. When we did the lab, we found different ways to find volume, like using the water displacement method, and using a formula. When using the water displacement method, we found the volume before adding things, the volume after, and then took the difference as the volume. In order to find the density, we used the formula D=M/V. Using my knowledge of volume and density, I think the titanic floated but sank because the front half of the ship had more mass making it dense. The front half having more dense, making it go down, breaking it in half. Then on Thursday, we learned about ions. Ions are atoms that have lost or gained electrons. Cations are...

Ecosystems - 3/12/17

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor N. 7A Image Location Summary This week, we have done many things. For example, we worked on two gizmos, and did an experiment all relating to the ecosystem. Throughout this week, I have learned many things. On Monday, we were given a gizmo. For the two class period, we worked on the gizmo, seeing what would happen if we cut down a certain population. Then, the next class periods, we did an experiment kinda like the gizmo. We were given four cups, each cup having different numbers of wholes in the bottom. We put the cup full of water in the graduated cylinder, then pour it into cup one, two, thee, four, back to the cylinder. At the end we see how much water is left. We did three times. See how much energy/water is left. That is the water efficiency. On Friday, we were given another gizmo. This gizmo, we learned what would happen if you increased a certain population. In the first gizmo, I learn what would happen if I would cut down a population, like tree...

Superhero Project Blog 2/8/2017

Project Blog : Victor N. 7A Image location; my phone Summary This project is quite interesting, and had many steps to it. First, we had to pick a two-three animals combine them, for your superhero. Then, we see what the traits are. My superhero was a fox and a caribou. I put them together, and combined to Swiper the Caribox. After picking a superhero, and writing out the traits onto a concept, we chose a mate for the hero. We looked at the genetics of each parents, put them on a punnett square to find out the different traits and genetics the baby will have, and whether the baby will be a boy or girl. My superbaby is 5 years old. His name is Boi, and he mainly has the traits and genetics of the dad, and some of the mom. Later on, we did our epigenetics. This is when our baby is an adult. Depending on flip of coins, we looked at whether our baby is healthy, at risk, or not healthy, of cancer, obesity, diets, etc.. My superchild is quite at risk at most of them. He lives in th...

The Villain - 2/5/2017

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor Nguyen 7A Image Image Location Summary This week, we have been doing some similar things like in the past few weeks. We continued to work on our superhero project, wr iting out o ur superhe ro origin story , and learning our villain (the bad version of our superhero), seeing what is the organs that is transformed into nefarious mode. Throughout this week, I have learned many things. On Monday, we didn't have scho ol. For one -two class periods, writing out our superhero origin story. Then , the next two class period, we chose 4 org ans, and transforme d them into nefar ious mode . My vil lain had sk in that had spike c omin g out , big ears, big e y e s, and str o ng muscles. We wor ked on that during Thu rsday.   On Friday, we had a BYOD day, so we didn't do work.  As you can see, I have learned many things this week, like  learning our superhero and villain , wr iting out o ur superhe ro origin story , and learning our villain (...

Epigenetics - 1/29/2017

Image
Weekly Blog : Victor Nguyen 7A Image image Location Summary This week, we have been doing some similar things like in the past few weeks. We continued to work on our superhero project, and learning our super-baby, seeing what is the possibility of its epigenetics and how our superhero was mutated. Throughout this week, I have learned many things. For th e first two -three class periods, we were seeing what epigenetics our superbaby ha s, and we had to draw it out. My baby was a t risk of being obese, and has b reast cancer . He lives in Do nutopolis , with Jak ob , Sean, and Pierson. On Thu rsday, w e were supposed to have sub, but change of plans. W e learned about GMO and mutations. We wor ked on that during Thu rsday and Fri day. On Friday, we did our mastery quest. As you can see, I have learned many things this week, like learning our super-baby, seeing what is the possibility of its epigenetics and how our superhero was mutated. SP6 - Constructing explanat...
